An Aligned Life #1: Releasing Pressure

This week I’m thinking about…

Not putting too much pressure on myself. As a part-time business owner and coach also working a full-time job and trying to have a beautiful, joyful life at the same time, I know how hard it is to stay balanced. To prioritize self-care and rest, when your to-do list is never-ending, seems undoable.

But because my to-do list is never-ending, there will always be something added to it. It will never be done. And the goal, for me to do full-time meaningful work in my own business, is to have complete freedom over my time, energy and priorities. Which means being able to enjoy weeknights with my loved ones, not to be overworked, stressed and worried. But that goal, although doing meaningful work and having freedom are important, is more about being fully present in my life and enjoying every single moment. That is what alignment feels like to me.

It doesn’t feel aligned to overwork myself to freedom. What feels like alignment is that “the path is as beautiful as the destination”. We never truly arrive, we’re never truly done. So I can’t wait for that to be fully present. With the love of my life, looking into his eyes, having nice conversations at the end of the day. To sit and talk for hours with my best friend. To snuggle up and watch a movie.

Yes, my work is important. But it’s not my entire life, and I owe it to my own alignment to give myself a breather, time to just be, to just enjoy. And that approach, in turn, makes me show up in such a full-hearted way in my business.

So cheers to releasing pressure and trusting that being in alignment is actually the greatest gift we can give ourselves, our loved ones and our work.
